SSM Continues Long-Term Cooperation with Ukraine in Nuclear and Radiation Safety
The Swedish Radiation Safety Authority (SSM) continues its long-term cooperation with Ukraine in nuclear and radiation safety, physical protection, nuclear non-proliferation and education. The strategic focus was confirmed during the official visit of the SSM delegation headed by SSM Director General Mikael Knochenhauer to Ukraine in November 2025.
The SSM delegation met with the management of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine, the State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety (SSTC NRS), Energoatom, as well as representatives of relevant ministries and the Parliament. The program of the event also included the visit to the Rivne NPP and the facilities in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone to discuss the current state of measures on ensuring nuclear and radiation safety in wartime.
Tetiana Verbytska, SSTC NRS Spokesperson and Leader of the Uatom.org Project, made a presentation on Uatom.org, which is the longest-running uninterrupted communication initiative in the sphere of nuclear and radiation safety in Ukraine. The website was created as an additional official platform for the regulatory authority of Ukraine to inform the public.
