Radioactive Source Revealed in Odesa

A RIO-3 type radioisotope ice detector was revealed at the regular location of a dismantled MI-2 helicopter. The incident occurred in June 2025 in Odesa within the industrial area of Transsignal PJSC. The equivalent dose rate on the surface of the device was 3.0 µSv/h.

The radioactive material was removed from the site and transported to RADON USC for temporary storage.

The information on radioactive material revealed in illicit trafficking was added to the IAEA Incident and Trafficking Database (ITDB).
