Fire Broke at National Center for Nuclear Research in Poland
On 18 December 2024, a fire broke out in the premises of the National Center for Nuclear Research in Otwock near Warsaw. All employees who stayed in the building during the incident were evacuated. Two persons were taken to hospital.
The building is located at a considerable distance from the MARIA research reactor and did not threaten its operation. There was also no hazard to other employees or facilities on the territory of the National Center for Nuclear Research in Poland.
According to information of the National Atomic Energy Agency of Poland, the radiological situation in Poland is under control and there is no radiological threat.
