33 Years of Struggle for Independence
“Taking into account the will of the Ukrainian people and their eternal aspiration for independence…”
It has been 33 years since Ukraine got rid of the totalitarian regime of the USSR and won the right to independence, the right to be a sovereign and democratic state, with an integral and inviolable territory, with the Ukrainian state language and national symbols – the State Flag of Ukraine, the State Emblem of Ukraine and the State Anthem of Ukraine.
However, just like many years ago, Ukrainians today continue to fight for their independence with arms in their hands. Despite the enemy’s encroachment on our territory, statehood and identity, we are fighting, fighting back and getting ours back. Independence requires us today to be resilient and courageous, to be strong and to make efforts to restore justice and peace.
Let us remember that our independence is the result of the struggle of many generations. No matter how long and difficult our path to victory may be, no one will ever be able to take away our freedom and will, which flow in the veins of every Ukrainian, which are imbued with our history and our traditions, for which our Heroes have fallen.
Happy Independence Day, Ukrainians!
Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Heroes!
