“X-Energy Opened Training Centre for Xe-100 SMR Operators
X-energy, a developer of small modular reactors (SMRs) and fuel technologies, has opened a Plant Support Centre (PSC) for future operators of the Xe-100 SMR.
The Centre will house a full-scale control room simulator, a prototype reactor protection system, a virtual reality room, as well as offices and classrooms.
The Centre will be used to train future operators of X-energy’s Xe-100 small modular reactors and will be able to train up to 52 operators at a time using a training program that combines virtual and simulation environments. The Centre will support training for the initial deployment of the Xe-100 at Dow’s Seadrift manufacturing facility in Texas.
Once the plants are operational, the facility will host continuous education programmes that will use real-world performance and operational data collected in the field to enhance training and professional development. “X-energy plans to establish additional regional centres to support the expansion of the reactor fleet, which will become centres for the provision of operation, maintenance and training services for X-energy personnel.
