Five Radioactive Objects Revealed in Dnipropetrovsk Region in June
In June, five radioactive objects containing uranium-238 radionuclide were revealed in Dnipropetrovsk Region.
On 16 June, a round-shaped metal object 15x15x15 cm in size with exceeded gamma radiation level was revealed in a forest belt (the territory of the Novooleksandrivka rural territorial community of the Dnipro district, Dnipropetrovsk region). Specialists of the Dnipro regional branch of RADON Association conducted a survey, during which they fixed an exceeded gamma radiation level at the distance of 0.1 m from the surface of 4.5 μSv/h.

On 20 June, three metal objects with exceeded gamma radiation level were revealed in Kamyanske:
- spherical object with a diameter of about 20 cm;
- rounded lid with a diameter of about 10 cm;
- rounded stand with a diameter of about 10 cm.
Specialists of the Dnipro regional branch of RADON Association conducted a survey and established an exceeded gamma radiation level of 4.85 μSv/h at a distance of 0.1 m from the surface.

A metal container was also revealed in Kamyanske on 20 June. Specialists of the Dnipro regional branch of RADON Association conducted a survey and established an exceeded gamma radiation level at a distance of 0.1 m from the surface of 5.5 μSv/h. The investigated object was in a barrel that looked like a protective container in an abandoned state.

Radiation contamination was not recorded in the territories. All radioactive materials were seized from the place of their revealing and transported to the radioactive waste disposal site of the Dnipro regional branch of RADON Association for temporary storage as part of the pre-trial investigation. Information on revealed radioactive materials in illicit trafficking will be added to the IAEA Incidents and Illicit Trafficking Database (ITDB).
