NuScale Power Cooperates with Accelerant Solutions to Develop SMR Operator Training Program
On 7 June 2023, NuScale Power Corporation and Accelerant Solutions announced that they have signed an agreement to develop and implement the NuScale licensed operator training program.
NuScale and Accelerant Solutions have been cooperating since 2020 to develop lesson plans to train nuclear power plant operators on operational systems, use of operating procedures, and the NuScale main control room simulator. The agreement stipulates that Accelerant Solutions and its strategic technological partner Tecnatom USA will use the first-of-its-kind PLANT software that contains interactive visual aids and the only authoritative resource for all drawings and documents that can be easily shared between lessons.
The cooperation between NuScale and Accelerant Solutions is based on NuScale’s innovations in the sphere of MCR staffing and will accelerate personnel training for the innovative VOYGR™ power plant design. VOYGR power plant configurations can be safely and reliably operated by a minimum of three licensed operators from one control room, this feature was approved by the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
In addition to developing the operator training program, NuScale is also preparing the future nuclear personnel through the deployment of Energy Research Centers (E2), including the recent opening of the first international E2 Center at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest in Romania.
