russian Warships Went to Sea with Tactical Nuclear Weapons on Board
In its annual report, Norwegian intelligence reported that for the first time in 30 years, russian ships started going to sea with tactical nuclear weapons on board. We are talking about the Northern Fleet of the russian federation, which is stationed in the pivnichnomorsk of the Murmansk region. The flotilla includes more than 80 submarines and surface ships, in particular, carriers of hypersonic weapons. The central part of the nuclear potential is located in submarines and surface warships.
The report notes that nuclear weapons are a particularly serious threat in operational options where NATO countries can participate.
Norwegian intelligence reports that ships of the russian Northern Fleet regularly went to sea with nuclear weapons on board during the Soviet Union times. However, such cases have not been observed since the Cold War. According to Norwegian intelligence, after the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the importance of nuclear weapons has increased significantly for russia.
