SkhidGZK Mined More Ore for Eight Months of 2020 but Produced Less Oxide Yellow Cake
In January-August 2020, the Eastern Mining and Processing Plant (SkhidGZK) produced 578.97 tons of oxide yellow cake with a total value of 2.252 billion UAH. According to the Ministry of Energy, this is 5.4% less than in the same period of 2019.
The production of yellow cake also decreased by 8% ― to 77.3 tons in August 2020 in comparison with August 2019.
Although uranium ore mining for 8 months of this year compared to the same period of the last year increased by 7.7% ― up to 382.6 tons.
As reported by the ExPro agency, SkhidGZK in 2019 compared to 2018 reduced the production of the yellow cake by 32% ― to 800.9 tons, and for 7 months of 2020 compared to 7 months of 2019, the production decreased by 5% ― to 501.7 tons.
