Visit of WENRA Reactor Harmonization Working Group

From 4 to 8 June 2018, the SNRIU will host the Reactor Harmonization Working Group of the Western European Nuclear Regulators Association (WENRA RHWG) for the first time.
During the week, representatives of regulatory authorities of the European Union, Switzerland, Japan, Canada and Belarus plan to visit the Chornobyl NPP site in the exclusion zone, as well as discuss a number of topical issues. Namely: improvement and implementation of WENRA reference levels for existing reactors; update of WENRA requirements for new NPPs; further work plan for WENRA RHWG; feedback after the first peer review on aging management of systems, components and structures, etc.
The SNRIU has been actively participating in WENRA work since 2009 as an observer, and since March 2015 as a full member of the Association. Membership in WENRA allows Ukraine to improve its national legislation on nuclear and radiation safety in accordance with EU standards (WENRA reference levels), as well as to participate in their development.
4 June 2018: planned visit of WENRA delegation to the ChNPP site.
