Detecting Illicit Trafficking of Radioactive Materials
On 29 January 2015, citizens in the town of Netishyn detected an unknown item resembling a container. Careful examination revealed that the unknown item was a Gammarid-type container with depleted uranium used for transport of radiation sources.
Measurements showed no sources inside the container. The equivalent dose rate at the container surface was 10 µSv/h.
The container was removed and sent for storage and further forensics.
