SNRIU Signed Agreement on Cooperation in Nuclear Safety with U.S. NRC

The State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission signed an Agreement on the Exchange of Technical Information and Cooperation in the Field of Nuclear Safety on 13 March 2018 in Rockville (Maryland, USA). The Agreement was signed by Hryhoriy Plachkov, SNRIU Chairman, and Kristine L. Svinicki, U.S. NRC Chairman, within participation of the Ukrainian Nuclear Regulator delegation in the NRC`s 30th Annual Regulatory Information Conference (RIC).

The conclusion of the above-mentioned Agreement will contribute to strengthening the cooperation in regulation of nuclear energy use for peaceful purposes, development of nuclear safety legislative framework, and exchange of experience in licensing activities that relate to the safe use of nuclear energy and in regulation of radioactive waste and spent fuel safe management, including transport and safe storage.

The Agreement will contribute to the professional development of staff from the Ukrainian and U.S. nuclear regulatory authorities through participation in inspection visits, scientific visits, workshops, and working meetings.

The Parties have agreed to ensure the widest dissemination of information to be provided under this Agreement in compliance with the requirements of national legislation and policy of the countries.

According to SNRIU
